Pastoral Scene

Week 4/13-19/2025
Suggested Scripture to Ponder this week:

Psalm 95:1-7

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!

Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;

Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

For the Lord is the great God,

And the great King above all gods.

In His hand are the deep places of the earth;

The heights of the hills are His also.

The sea is His, for He made it;

And His hands formed the dry land.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker,

For He is our God,

And we are the people of His pasture,

And the sheep of His hand.

Commentary:

     We are so blessed.  We should live constantly in a state of thanksgiving.  Even in hard times, we have much to be thankful for.  When tempted to complain or be distracted by negative thoughts, we should get in the habit of reminding ourselves of all the blessings we have.  You cannot be thankful and discontented at the same time.

"Be anxious for nothing,

but in everything by prayer and supplication,

with thanksgiving,

let your requests be made known to God"

                                                 Philippians 4:6

     Ask..., with thanksgiving.  Remind yourself daily, hourly, that God is Almighty.  He is in control.  If you belong to Him, then you are in safe hands.  Live in a state of thanksgiving.  When you are truly thankful, you will find that the blessings you have are enough.  When you are thankful, you will automatically praise and glorify God.  Your life, however difficult by worldly standards, will be full of joy.  You will be transformed and transfixed by His power and glory.  You will have the peace that the world desires but does not have and does not understand (Philippians 4:7).

Rejoice always,

pray without ceasing

in everything give thanks;

for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

     We rejoice because THE LORD, He is our God.  We talk to Him, not just in formal prayer, but all the time, because He is with us and in us, and evil cannot distract us if we are in constant communion with Him.  He created us to be one with Him.  Living in a state of continual gratefulness draws us ever closer to the Source of blessing, rest, peace, joy and real love.

In God is my salvation and my glory;  The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Psalm 62:7  (NKJV)
