Week 5/25-31/2025                  Suggested Scripture to Ponder this week:

Romans 12:1-2
I Peter 5:6-7

I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

I Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV)

 Commentary:

The Lord clothes the lilies.  He feeds the birds.  He assures us over and over that He cares for us with a love far beyond human comprehension.  As intensely as we may love our children or family, it is only a shadow of the love He has for us for His love is perfect.  So rather than worry or use our short time here on earth to pursue worldly, temporary things, we should focus our desires, our attention, our efforts and energy on pursuing the will of God.  As His love for us is perfect, so is His will for our lives.  We can trust Him to meet our needs.

We can also give our desires, our abilities and our pleasures to Him and leave them in His hands.   We can turn our attention away from those things and focus instead on the things of God, eternal things.  We can sacrifice our earthly pursuits as well as our cares on His altar and trust Him to give us what is best for us.

This is not to say we should strive to live a cold, austere life devoid of any pleasure.  God loves us (Luke 12:31-32).  He wants to bless and will bless with better blessings than we can imagine if we will let Him, if we will seek His will rather than our own.  He wants us to enjoy His blessings, but the abilities and pleasures He has blessed us with should not become our masters.  We should always serve Him, not His blessings.

God has a purpose for each of our lives.  Let us give our distractions to Him and seek to live our lives in His eternal will.

In God is my salvation and my glory;  The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Psalm 62:7  (NKJV)
