Week 6/8-14/2025 Suggested Scripture to Ponder this week:
Psalm 61:1-4
Mark 4:36-41
Hear my cry, O God;
Attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle for ever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

Psalm 61: 1-4 (NKJV)

Commentary:
In the midst of trouble, when I am overwhelmed... When others fail me... When I have reached the end of myself...There is one fact, one promise I can always count on: I can cry out to my Lord and He will hear and answer. He is my unfailing shelter from any storm. He will protect and defend me. He is the rock that cannot be moved. His care is gentle and comforting, and at the same time mighty and powerful, so I can rest in Him.
We can be free of fear by trusting Him. In the midst of the storm, Jesus was not troubled. He was able to peacefully sleep even while the storm raged around Him. It is not that He was unaware of their situation. He was setting an example for them. He was teaching them a lesson about faith. All things are within His power. He does care for us. We can always come to Him. We need not fear when He is with us and He is always with us. When we stray away from His side, we do get into trouble, but we only have to cry out to Him, to turn back to Him, to seek His help. Regardless of what happens, He will take care of us. He will see us through the storms of this life, and ultimately take us home to be with Him forever.
